With various service offerings such as individual therapy and program evaluation/assessment, the practice is skilled to support and attend to relational traumas that impede progress for individuals and support mission alignment for organizations. James and Aleata Dawkins have over twenty years of experience providing counseling and consultation for individuals, groups, and organizations. Specializing in marriage, individual, and spiritual counseling, both hold Master's Degrees in Professional Counseling and other degrees and certifications.
Aleata Dawkins, MA, LPC/LCPC, NCC
Aleata has over twenty years of experience supporting individuals, couples, and families through the twists and turns of everyday life. With a specific focus on assisting individuals in crisis management, Aleata feels a unique calling to walk with individuals as they unlock the potential beyond their current stressors. A graduate of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and American School of Professional Psychology (ASPP)/Argosy University, Aleata holds a master’s degree in Professional Counseling. She is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) and Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Maryland and Washington, D.C. She has received specialized training in domestic violence, trauma-informed care, and non-violence crisis management, specifically focusing on underserved communities. Aleata has recognized a growing need to help professionals unlock their leadership skills while navigating through work-related stressors to achieve a better work-life balance within the last three years.
In addition to practice, Aleata is a seasoned executive within the homeless service field, formerly heading programming for one of the largest non-profit organizations in the Washington Metropolitan Area. She brings a wealth of knowledge, experience, and compassion to deliver strength-based practices, leadership modeling, and coaching capabilities in private practice and community work. Aleata has served as Director of Programs, Counselor, Coordinator, and Non-Profit Trainer for several Washington, DC’s largest non-profits. In conjunction with numerous other certifications, she is also a National Board Certified Counselor who is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in strategic leadership with an emphasis on coaching. Aleata understands her dual calling in life is to serve and motivate others to make the most of their lives, while helping them hold themselves accountable for their choices (both positive and negative). In her free time, Aleata leverages her experience to support the development of adolescent girls, married couples, and black maternal health projects around infancy loss. Aleata believes the most significant reward as a human service professional is seeing the power of the human spirit as it survives, transforms, and stabilizes to become the best version of itself.
James H. Dawkins, Jr, MA, M.Div
James is an experienced engineer with twenty-five years of experience and expertise working for and advising government contract liaisons in system engineering and integration, software development, and project management. With previous experiences as a project manager, scrum master, agile coach, and other management support positions, he is uniquely prepared to coach businesses through the hiring and bidding phases. In addition to these professional responsibilities, he is an ordained minister. He provides spiritual and relationship-based coaching and mentoring from an African-American male perspective. It is his passion to see men successfully navigate life's societal and unspoken pressures. With this passion, he donated his time ministering to those behind bars in the Washington Metropolitan Area. In partnership with his wife of over 20 years, Mr. Dawkins also offers couple and marriage counseling as a part of their practice. Understanding that education is the foundation of the support provided to individuals and organizations, Mr. Dawkins holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, a Masters of Arts degree in Professional Counseling, and recently received his Master's of Divinity from Liberty University.
